Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel. Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), is the first female in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take on the role as the lead character. Larson does an outstanding job in “Captain Marvel” portraying a determined superhero who is the epitome of female leadership.

Marvel fans first learned there would be a “Captain Marvel” movie at the end of “Avengers: Infinity War,” which was released in April 2018. In that fantasy/science fiction film, half the population was wiped out with the snap of Thanos’ finger.

When the heroes are fading away, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who runs S.H.I.E.L.D., pulls out a beeper which bears the Captain Marvel emblem. Fans might have been confused by Fury pulling that out of his pocket, but he and Carol go way back. She is the one who gave him the beeper and told him to use it for a big emergency only.

In “Captain Marvel,” Carol is a pilot for the military and is helping Dr. Wendy Lawson (Annette Bening) with newly invented light speed technology when Wendy’s plane crashes. In this shocking scene, Carol discovers Wendy’s true identity.

Wendy’s real name is Mar-Vell, and it is revealed that she is a Kree scientist trying to help the Skrulls find a place to call home and end war.

This movie is a standout because it focuses on a female protagonist who rises to her full potential. Like other Marvel movies, it features a complex storyline that sets it apart from other superhero movies. However, “Captain Marvel” distinguishes itself from its previous films because it sends the message that female leaders can be just as strong as male leaders. It was time for a woman to take the lead role as a superhero, and Carol lived up to the hype.

The storyline in “Captain Marvel” is also great because it leads to “Avengers: Endgame,” which will be released on April 26 and will likely feature Carol in a prominent role.

“Captain Marvel” will go down in history as one of Marvel’s most memorable films. It portrays strong female leadership at its finest, and that might be the secret ingredient to defeating Thanos and bringing half of the population back to life.
