Pantone, a color partner for design, named Classic Blue the color of the year for 2020. In my opinion, this color is just too basic.

With LHS’ colors including a similar Classic Blue, I see this color daily: in classrooms, the gym and the hallways. While I’m tired of Classic Blue, I like the idea of having a traditional color be the focus of 2020.

So, my color of the year is one that is classy and comfortable, sporty yet sophisticated. We all have it in our closets, and for good reason. Why not kick off a new decade with a color that is versatile and timeless? My color pick of the year is black, and when it comes to piecing together an outfit, the more of it, the better!

Sporty outfits are simple but create the appearance of looking “put together.” Combining a black zip-up with leggings and sneakers creates an outfit that screams athleticism. Whether you are spending time at home, running errands or exercising, this sporty, black outfit is the best way to go about your day.

Enter a new decade in comfort. Stay cozy with a black long-sleeve shirt, sweatpants and slip-on slippers. On a school day, this is most likely what you will see me wearing. Whether you are lounging around on your couch, going to class, doing laundry or cooking dinner, wearing multiple pieces that are all black will make you feel empowered to be your best self.

If you have plans to go out, black is never a bad option. Pair a black jean jacket with a t-shirt, leggings and knee-high boots for a perfect Friday night outfit. On occasions that you have to put together an outfit at the last minute, consider mixing multiple black garments. This way, you don’t have to worry about matching colors, and you’ll have heads turning to look at your super classy style.
