“Soccer has always been a part of my family as I grew up, and my sister and I always played together. Although it wasn’t always smooth sailing, no matter what I always loved it,” Yallo said.

She said even though the coronavirus put the team in a less than ideal position, she was confident the girls would do well. The global pandemic has greatly affected high school sports and caused many seasons to be canceled. As fall sports started coming back, Yallo said she became excited for the season.

“I knew things were going to be a little different this year than in past years, but I didn’t care and knew that the team could get through anything put up against us.”

Yallo said being on the team for three years and forming connections with her teammates helped build up her confidence. Yallo said she was not worried the restrictions would impose a burden on the team.

Yallo endured an injury after playing the fall season. She suffered a hip labral tear, which required her to undergo surgery. However, this did not stop Yallo as she is still committed to a Division 1 school, Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts. Yallo said she is very excited to continue her athletic career and is positive soccer will be in her life for a long time to come.

“I’m super excited to have the opportunity to play college soccer. I’m definitely nervous, but I couldn’t be happier,” said Yallo.
