This is Zully’s third year on The Lighthouse staff. She is now an editor-in-chief along with Emma Chloe Caamaño and president of the National Honor Society, vice president of World Language Honor Society, class president as well as a Peer Group Leader. Her goal is for this year to be a fun and successful one for The Lighthouse.

This is Emma’s third year in the journalism program. She has gone from staff writer to managing editor to editor-in-chief, a leadership position she shares with Zully Arias. She loves the journalism program and is planning to major in journalism with a double major in editorial design.
Joana KapajSenior Editor
This is Joana’s third and final year in the journalism program. She was a staff writer and editor and is now the senior editor. Joana is a member of the Book Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Multi-Culture Club and National Honor Society. She is a treasurer for both the Book Club and Multi-Culture Club. She enjoys reading, photography and traveling and loves to extend a helping hand. She hopes to strengthen her journalistic skills while continuing to learn about people’s lives and their opinions.
Carina PaserchiaManaging Editor
This is Carina’s third year writing for The Lighthouse. She started out as a staff writer and then became an editor. She will finish off her high school journalism career as managing editor with her Starbucks-loving co-managing editor Nazli Tiyaloglu. Carina is a part of the cheerleading team, National Honor Society and swim team. She hopes to increase the follower count on The Lighthouse’s Twitter and Instagram accounts to at least 500 by the end of this school year.

This is Nazli’s third year on The Lighthouse staff. In addition to being managing editor of The Lighthouse, Nazli is the vice president of the Multi-Culture Club and cofounder of the March of Dimes fundraiser in the Future Business Leaders of America. Her goals this year are to become a stronger writer and work on the social media accounts with her co-managing editor Carina Paserchia at Starbucks. She will be studying English and fashion in college and wants to be a lawyer.
This is Adam’s second year in the journalism program. He currently creates infographics, organizes monthly Twitter polls and designs the website for The Lighthouse with Senior Sean Leonard. He values his work, is determined to succeed and hopes to be a valuable asset to The Lighthouse.
This is Sean’s third year in the journalism program. Sean was previously a staff writer and editor, and he is currently a webmaster along with Adam Herabi. Outside of The Lighthouse, he is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, National Honor Society and Sports Medicine Club. He also enjoys playing for LHS’ baseball and ice hockey teams. This year, Sean is excited to develop the online presence of The Lighthouse.
This is Alexa’s third year writing for The Lighthouse and her second year serving as an editor. Alexa enjoys dancing and is part of the volleyball team. She is also historian for the Future Business Leaders of America. Her goal is to help the students in the journalism program create great content and write to their greatest potential.
This is Robert’s third year writing for The Lighthouse and his second year as an editor. He enjoys running and is part of LHS’ cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams. He plans to study computer science in college. His goal is to create captivating, entertaining articles and improve his writing.
This is Ambar’s second year in the journalism program. In addition to being a part of The Lighthouse, Ambar is a member of the LHS chorale, which has been a goal of hers since eighth grade. Ambar is also a part of the Future Business Leaders of America. Through her participation in FBLA, Ambar hopes to gain business skills. Ambar is now an editor for The Lighthouse. She hopes to develop leadership qualities and provide assistance to those in her group. Her goal is to become editor-in-chief next year and make sure the next editions of The Lighthouse are even better than the last.
This is Sebastian’s third year writing for The Lighthouse and his second year serving as editor. Sebastian likes to watch baseball, basketball and football, but he only plays baseball in the spring. His goal is to help his fellow journalists as much as possible and make his last year his best.
This is Jamie’s third year writing for The Lighthouse and her second year serving as an editor. In addition to her role on The Lighthouse staff, Jamie is the webmaster for the Future Business Leaders of America and a member of the Multi-Culture Club, Mock Trial Team and National Honor Society. She is also a varsity basketball player at LHS. This year, her goal is to write both opinion and feature articles while, of course, continuing to binge-watch Netflix shows and movies.
Anthony is on the varsity football, wrestling and baseball teams. This is his second year as a member of The Lighthouse staff. This is his first year as an editor. He hopes to stay in the journalism program through his senior year. His goal is to make The Lighthouse a better publication and to entertain every single reader.
This is Brianna’s second year in the journalism program and first year as an editor. She is also the secretary of the Italian Club and a member of the Prom Committee. Brianna’s favorite things include dogs, pasta, Netflix and sleeping. Her goal for the year is to maintain her grades and work hard. She looks forward to meeting new people and connecting to the student body through journalism.
This is Gianna’s second year in the journalism program. After a successful first year, she returned to the program as an editor and is very excited to continue writing. Gianna is on the fall varsity cheerleading team and is a member of an all-star team outside of school. She is a part of many school clubs and is looking to be inducted into the National Honors Society. She hopes to stay involved with The Lighthouse until she graduates and is happy to keep writing articles with the rest of the staff.
This is Somaia’s second year in the journalism program. She went from being a staff writer to becoming an editor. She is also the manager of the girls basketball team and is currently the membership vice president of the Future Business Leaders of America. She enjoys volunteer work, traveling, meeting new people and learning about other cultures. Her goal is to inspire and help people become the best version of themselves.
This is Alicia’s second year in the journalism program and her first year as editor. She always looks forward to meeting new people and helping new journalists learn. Her hobbies include playing with her dog Tigger, hanging out with her friends and catching up on Netflix series. Her goal in this program is to become a better writer and create articles that many people will enjoy.
Carley is a sophomore and a second year Journalism student. This year, she is serving as editor of The Lighthouse. She plays varsity basketball for LHS and an Amateur Athletic Union team in Central Jersey. She hopes to stay in the journalism program for all four years of high school.
This is Erin’s second year in the journalism program. She is on the varsity cheerleading team and also coaches younger girls for the town football cheering program. She enjoys traveling and hanging out with friends and family. Her goal is to move on to college next year and major in broadcasting.
This is Victoria’s second year in the journalism program. She has gone from staff writer to editor this year. She is the public relations director for the junior class. She is currently part of the varsity cross country team, Future Business Leaders of America and Multi-Culture Club. Victoria hopes to continue being part of The Lighthouse through her senior year.
This is Kayla’s last year in the journalism program. She is thankful to have been in the program for three years of her high school career. She enjoys listening to music and reading in her spare time. She is a member of the Multi-Culture Club and World Language Honor Society in addition to being an editor for The Lighthouse. Her goals are to attend Fordham University and become an attorney.
This is Lea’s third year writing for The Lighthouse. Lea plans on remaining a part of the journalism program for all four years of high school. She enjoys acting in plays and musicals and being involved in the Art Club, Athletic Training Club, chorale, Future Business Leaders of America and Gay-Straight Alliance Club. She also has an interest in photography and filmmaking. Lea hopes to attend Seton Hall University and become a teacher.
This is Nick’s third year in the journalism program, and he is very excited to keep writing his side-by-side sports column for The Lighthouse. Nick is a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams as well as the Future Business Leaders of America. He aspires to one day be an accountant for a core four company and work on Wall Street. He will be attending Montclair State University next fall.
This is Joseph’s first year writing for The Lighthouse. He likes to watch all kinds of sports but mainly baseball, basketball, football and tennis. He also loves playing basketball and takes any chance he can to play. His goal this year is to be a great writer and hopefully become an editor next year.
This is Angelena’s second year is the journalism program. She enjoys music and loves to play the piano. She is looking forward to track season in the spring. Angelena loves to stay organized and has a planner in hand at all times. She wants to pursue a career as a lawyer. When Angelena is older, she would like to travel to places she has never been before because she believes life is too short to do otherwise.
This is Robert’s second year in the journalism program. Last year, he wrote a side-by-side sports column for The Lighthouse and looks to continue that and make it even better this year. He is a member of the varsity baseball team and enjoys watching the Philadelphia 76ers. This year in journalism he plans on writing the best articles he can about sports.
This is Alexa’s first year in the journalism program. She transferred to LHS after attending DePaul Catholic High School in her freshman year. She has lived in Lyndhurst her whole life. She made the varsity softball team as a freshman last year at DePaul and is looking forward to playing softball at Lyndhurst this spring along with basketball in the winter. She enjoys writing and hopes to stay in journalism until her senior year.
This is Campbell’s second year in the journalism program. He is on the football, bowling and baseball teams. Campbell’s experience as a journalist extends past The Lighthouse. He has also authored a special report about his time at a NASCAR race in the Poconos. This commentary was published on KickintheTires.net. Campbell is an avid Red Sox fan, much to the dismay of his peers, and watches SportsCenter 24/7. Campbell plans to study sports journalism as well as broadcasting in college, and his dream job is to work for ESPN.
This is Andrew’s first year in the journalism program. In addition to being on The Lighthouse staff, Andrew is a member of the National Honor Society. He hopes to bring his best work to The Lighthouse and write very intriguing articles. In the future, he intends to attend college to become a doctor.
Alyssa was in the journalism program her freshman year but decided not to take the class during her sophomore year. After a year with no connection to The Lighthouse, she is extremely happy to once again be a part of this program. She has a passion for dance and is on the volleyball team. She was also the Lyndhurst ambassador for the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Foundation and spent a week over the summer in Chicago attending the World Leadership Conference. When she gets older, Alyssa hopes to be able to travel all over the world.
This is Emma’s first year in the journalism program, and she has been enjoying it immensely. Emma plans to continue in the program through her senior year. Emma is also a member of the Art Club, Book Club and Multi-Culture Club in addition to being co-captain of the Color Guard. In her free time, Emma enjoys reading long books and watching Netflix with friends. Her dream career would be an anesthesiologist or surgeon.
This is Kevin’s first year in the journalism program, and he plans to continue through his senior year. Kevin is a member of several clubs as well as the winter and spring track teams. Kevin likes to write and watch films. His goal is to write articles that are interesting and creative to readers of The Lighthouse.
This is Iris’ first year in the journalism program. She is secretary of the Multi-Culture Club and is a member of the Athletic Training Club, Future Business Leaders of America and Italian Club. She is also a part of the girls soccer and track teams. Her goal is to contribute to The Lighthouse for the rest of her high school career and win awards for her articles. She aspires to go from staff writer to editor-in-chief in the upcoming years.
This is her first year in the journalism program. She is a member of the band, Book Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Multi-Culture Club and Italian Club. Her goal is to become a stronger writer and to entertain and inspire others with her writing.
This is Alexa’s first year in the journalism program. She recently transferred from Kearny High School to LHS and joined journalism to become a better writer. She plans on writing opinion articles and reviews in addition to providing photography for The Lighthouse. Her hobbies include taking photos, hanging out with friends and family and listening to music. Her favorite musical artists of all time are Brockhampton, Frank Ocean, The 1975 and Tyler the Creator.
This is her first year in the journalism program. She is a staff writer. She is on the LHS varsity cheerleading game team. She is looking forward to winter cheerleading as well. She wants to be a better writer and bring her readers enjoyment. Maya enjoys pizza, Netflix and cheering.
This is Hailey’s first year in the journalism program. She is one of the varsity cheer captains as well as the trumpet section leader in the marching, concert and jazz band. Hailey also enjoys partaking in the school musicals as well as joining clubs such as the Italian Club and the Athletic Training Club. Her goal for this year is to improve her writing skills so that she can be prepared to study communication and media studies next year in college.
Matthew is in his second year working for The Lighthouse. He hopes to spread smiles and happiness around LHS. He also plans on informing students with interesting and entertaining facts. He enjoys playing and watching basketball. His goal this year is to keep his grades high and prepare to go to college.
This is Stephanie’s first year writing for The Lighthouse. Stephanie enjoys watching Netflix and reading books as well as spending time with her friends and family. She is involved in various clubs at LHS, and her goals in the journalism program are to improve her writing abilities and gain new experiences.
This is Yaren’s first year in journalism. She loves writing and reading in her spare time. She is part of the Book Club, Gay-Straight Alliance Club and Italian Club, and she plans to get even more involved throughout the school year. She is hoping to become a nurse in the field of psychology because she loves helping and gaining an understanding of others. Yaren loves tacos, pizza and just being lazy 24/7. She considers herself an introvert, yet she always finds time for others and her work.
This is Andrew’s first year in the journalism program. He hopes to stay in the journalism program for the rest of his high school career. He is very interested in the possibility of becoming a professional journalist. He also likes sleeping for multiple hours, sometimes falling asleep while doing homework, which is a habit he wants to break. Andrew hopes to make The Lighthouse even better by writing interesting articles.
This is Alex’s first year in The Lighthouse program. She hopes to excel in her writing and be able make a mark as an editor during her senior year. She wants to contribute by writing straight news articles and news features. She strives to be factual in her writing as well as include a touch of creativity. Her goal is to one day work in the medical field.
This is Alexa’s second year in the journalism program. She hopes to stay in the program next year. She enjoys writing, competitive swimming and hanging out with her friends. Her goal for the upcoming year is to better her writing skills and gain more experience from her time at The Lighthouse.
This is Nicolle’s first year in the journalism program. She has just moved to Lyndhurst this year after growing up in Newark for the majority of her life. A passion for speaking her mind is what brought Nicolle to The Lighthouse. She hopes that being a student journalist will give her the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends to better integrate into her new community.
