Nothing beats the comforting and familiar smell of Irish soda bread. This Saint Patrick’s Day, celebrate with a mouth-watering treat that will keep you wanting more.
Ingredients:
4 cups of flour
4 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
4 tablespoons of butter (½ stick of butter)
1 ½ cups of buttermilk
1 egg
½ teaspoon of orange zest
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Combine flour, sugar and baking soda, and mix thoroughly. Feel free to add butter for extra richness.
- Lightly beat buttermilk, egg and orange zest together on low speed.
- Put dough on a floured baking sheet and kneed it.
- Place dough in a medium-sized baking sheet.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until bronzed.
- After you take the Irish soda bread out of the oven, let it cool on a baking rack.
- Serve bread at room temperature.
