Wow, 365 days have gone by in a flash! Whether these trends have come back in style or were brand new in 2018, this has certainly been a year to remember. Here are the top eight trends of 2018:

Yanny and Laurel
A student was given the vocabulary word Laurel. When she played the audio on a vocabulary website, she heard the word Yanny. She later posted the audio on Twitter, and it went viral. People all over the world are listening to this audio wondering whether they really hear Yanny or Laurel.

In My Feelings Challenge
“Kiki do you love me?” In the summer of 2018, Drake released ‘In My Feelings,’ and it was played on every pop radio station all over the world. People began performing dance routines where they would hop out of their cars and lip sync the words.

Zoom Challenge
On March 9, Lil Yachty released ‘MICKEY,’ and it became a huge trend when people of all ages took videos of themselves pretending to drive only to have their legs being pulled from underneath so their bodies would be out of the camera view.

Yodeling Challenge
In March, a 10-year-old boy named Mason Ramsey was spotted yodeling in the middle of a Harrisburg, Illinois Walmart. The shoppers were surprised by this peculiar sound, and they all began to surround him, making videos and taking pictures. Ramsey later went viral and was seen on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Good Morning America,” and “America’s Got Talent,” among other shows. Children and adults decided to try the #Yodelingchallenge and post it all over social media.

Birkenstocks
These sandals were first spotted in the 1960s and 1970s, which means your grandparents most likely owned a pair. In the early 2000s, these shoes were viewed as a fashion no-no. Today, you will see people wearing them in school, at practice, walking around or just relaxing in them because of their comfort and trendiness.

The Color Yellow
In the spring and summer of 2018, photos of the color yellow took over social media. People of all ages are getting their nails done and rocking this color.

Scrunchies
Scrunchies were very popular during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Over the past decade, these ponytail holders seemed to have disappeared. But today, you can spot people of all ages rocking this hair accessories on their wrists as a fashion statement or using it to keep their hair in place.

Fanny Packs
Like scrunchies, fanny packs were mostly seen in the 1980s and 90s. Today, high-end brands like Balenciaga, Gucci and Supreme are selling these popular items.
