Students say PDA does not belong in the halls of LHS

Some hate it, and some don’t mind it, but one thing is for sure: everyone has observed a public display of affection—better known as PDA—at some point in time. Whether observing a pair holding hands in the hallways or catching sight of a couple making out in a stairwell, PDA does not go unnoticed.

Sophomore Rosie Cooper said she is neutral on the topic.

“I think PDA is acceptable to a certain extent. Basic holding hands and hugging is a normal thing to do in public,” Cooper said.

However, Cooper said when PDA becomes too intense, it can make people feel uncomfortable. She also said people should consider the location they are in before engaging in PDA.

“In the hallways, it’s weird seeing students kissing, but simple things couples do never really affected me,” Cooper said.

“PDA is probably the most cringey thing I ever see walking the halls of LHS.”

Junior Josh Pizarro said he hates seeing students participate in PDA.

“PDA is probably the most cringey thing I ever see walking the halls of LHS,” Pizarro said.

He said PDA becomes especially annoying when it interferes with other students’ abilities to get to their lockers.

“It affects me tragically,” Pizarro said. “Sometimes couples are just going at it so unbearably. I start to gag a few times.”

Pizarro said PDA is not limited to public places. He said he also sees it on social media.

“It’s getting so bad that I honestly think my whole feed is basically couples on top of each other.

At this point, we must put an end to this,” Pizarro said.

Senior Billy Miriana said PDA sometimes makes him feel uncomfortable, but he does not mind it in all situations.

“I support people showing physical emotion to another person up to a certain point,” Miriana said.

Nonetheless, Miriana said students should keep PDA to a minimum while they are at LHS.

“PDA, at some points, can get to be too much, and people should not be doing that in school,” said Miriana.
