Senior Tributes

For me, high school has been an incredibly hard but fulfilling journey, and I will always cherish it. It’s true when they say time flies, so enjoy it while you can.

It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman, and now I’m two months away from graduating high school. I was expecting to be wiser as a senior, but sometimes I still feel like the same confused kid from three years ago.

Junior year was probably the most stressful time for me. Trying to prepare for the SATs while also studying for ordinary tests in high school was pretty challenging. Fortunately, I persevered and was able to end that year on a high note.

The biggest lesson I learned was to take it one step at a time and relax. I put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself, and I wish I hadn’t let the stress get to me. At the moment, it felt like walls were closing in on me, but looking back a year later, it wasn’t nearly as scary as I made it out to be.

When I finally entered senior year, I instantly wanted it to be over, but now that it’s June, I’m not ready to say goodbye. The worst part is that the coronavirus pandemic has kept us out of LHS since mid-March.

I never expected my final year in high school to end up like this. There are so many senior milestones I would have liked to experiences, such as a senior banquet, the yearbook signing party and a traditional graduation.

The biggest lesson I learned was to take it one step at a time and relax.

I’m going to miss LHS and all the people who have helped me along the way. I am eternally grateful for all the support and kindness I have received. Now, I can truly say I’m ready to enter a new chapter in my life at Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J.

Thank you to all the teachers and my guidance counselor Mr. Rowland for helping me in many ways through my time at LHS. I honestly appreciate it. These past four years have been a bumpy but meaningful ride that I will never forget.

I’ll finish off this tribute with some advice: Do whatever makes you happy, and focus on the positives. That’s the mindset I plan to take with me as I move on to the next phase of my life.
