In an Instagram post shared on Sept. 8, media personality Kim Kardashian announced that “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” will be ending in 2021 after its 20th season. The iconic reality show, which focuses on the Kardashian-Jenner family’s personal and professional lives, has been in production since 2007 and is currently airing its 19th season.
Junior Kylie Cipolla said she is disappointed the television series, which airs on the E! cable network, will be coming to an end.
“I’ve watched this show since the age of nine when my mom introduced it to me. Since then, I’ve been in love with the show, and it has been something I looked forward to every week,” Cipolla said.
Cipolla said “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” provides one-of-a-kind entertainment.
“The show is like no other when it comes to reality TV. The family [members are] so different from one another, and I enjoy seeing their differences,” Cipolla said.
“Keeping up with the Kardashians” focuses on the relationship between the five sisters—Kendall, Khloe, Kim, Kourtney and Kylie—and their mother and manager Kris Jenner.
Senior Deirdre Kearns, who has been watching the show since she was 12 years old, said Khloe is her favorite Kardashian sister.
“I enjoy watching how they live their lives so differently from us, but at the same time, there are moments [where] you can relate to them.”
“I find her funny, and she has grown a lot throughout the show,” Kearns said. “During the hard times she has been through with her past relationships [and while] working on her body and becoming a healthier person, she shows humor in almost every episode and never fails to make me laugh.”
Kearns said she loves watching the show because, like the Kardashian family, she approaches her life with passion.
“I enjoy watching how they live their lives so differently from us, but at the same time, there are moments [where] you can relate to them,” Kearns said.
The iconic show is coming to an end because the family is getting larger, and therefore, it is getting harder to film altogether. Entertainment Tonight reported that the Kardashians want time to take on other projects and that filming the show was too time-consuming.
Senior Alexa Tortorello said she wishes she would not have to say goodbye to the series.
“Since the show has been called off, I’ve been in shock because I thought it would have been filmed for a longer time,” Tortorello said.
Most fans are fascinated by the unpredictability of the Kardashians’ lives. Many viewers enjoy how exaggerated they appear on the show, which is what keeps people wanting more.
Tortorello said the show is funny, explaining that she always has a great time watching when she tunes in. However, this will come to an end following the show’s 20th season.
“I look forward to Mondays and Thursdays to cuddle up on my couch and start the show,” Tortorello said. “I won’t be able to look forward to the show since it is [going to be] discontinued.”
