If you are looking for a unique way to add personality to your outfits, look no further than patches. They can be ironed or sewn on to any garment, and selecting the perfect patch is half the fun.
A quick search on Etsy or Amazon will do the trick, especially for some of my favorite items.
Masks. The past few months have consisted of nothing but social distancing and wearing masks. Nonetheless, I didn’t want to be complacent with my fashion choices during this time. I wanted to step out of my own comfort zone and strengthen my creativity. The disposable masks that everybody wears are not for me. I wanted to make my masks different, and this is what sparked my idea to patch up my clothes.
Sweaters. There is something about butterflies that makes them just the right addition to any piece of clothing. The first patched garment that I ever made was this sea green quarter zip-up hoodie with butterfly patches. The idea was to position the butterflies to look as if they were flying up my sleeve. This project came out just the way I wanted it to, and it only took a few minutes.
Jeans. Back in May, I remember scrolling through Instagram and noticing that patched jeans were becoming a trend. Slowly but surely, social media influencers began to wear clothing pieces from small businesses that, like me, patched clothes. I then decided to replicate what I saw online by attaching an eye patch to the back pocket of my Hollister jeans.
Vans. These are sneakers with so much potential. My favorite pair, the plain white Vans, made me realize that the possibilities are truly endless when it comes to patches. At first, I was nervous to try out the idea that came to my mind so impulsively, but now nobody has the same shoes as I do, and I would not want it any other way.
