2020 had many ups and downs, students and staff answer the question of what they learned during the previous year.

Claudia Lapinski, junior

“I learned that nothing is promised and that the world can change in an instant, and our entire lives can be turned upside down. I learned that everything is a possibility even when it sounds far-fetched, and that applies to major outbreaks in the world like this pandemic. Even personal goals in life can be achieved even if they are improbable.”

Isabella Rivera, senior

“I learned to not take life for granted because in a blink of an eye everything can change. There isn’t anything we can do about it, so we have to live our life to the fullest.”

Alexa Zeoli, senior

“I learned that even though the world went through a lot, you have to try and make the best out of it. Time is of the essence, and it is important to stay strong.”

Mr. Carucci, math teacher

“I would say what I learned the most is to value the little things in life, the things that we so often take for granted. I feel as though I am much more appreciative of the little things.”

Mr. Raguseo, Italian Teacher

“There were a lot of things I learned last year: things about myself, about others, about our country and even about the rest of the world. The most important lesson for me, however, was learning what it really means to sacrifice. I, like many other people, sacrificed a lot—some more than others—to keep myself and others safe. I am very grateful for the people on the frontlines during this pandemic, sacrificing their own safety and that of their families to help others, to make sure grocery shelves are stocked, and to deliver essential goods and services. Hopefully, we all remember the lessons learned from last year as we seek better years ahead of us.”
