“My Turn (Deluxe)” by Lil Baby had a big impact on the rap scene last year. It is undoubtedly his best work to date, and it set the bar high for his future projects.

Lil Baby is one of the most popular mainstream rappers in the trap music industry. The 26-year-old singer-songwriter from Atlanta wasn’t always famous. He had to get through tough times to make it to where he is today.

When Lil Baby released his mixtape “Perfect Timing” back in 2017, his career took off. After he rose to fame, he released his first studio album “Harder Than Ever” as well as six more mixtapes that were all hits and expanded his fan base even more. After releasing those seven projects in only two years, Lil Baby took a year off before returning with “My Turn” on Feb. 28, 2020 and “My Turn (Deluxe)” on May 1, 2020.

My Turn (Deluxe)” consists of 27 songs and is 1 hour, 21 minutes in length. In this hip-hop/rap album, Lil Baby tells his listeners that he is done messing around and is stepping into his star moment.

Lil Baby has a really good style of rapping; he can make music that can hype people up but at the same be chill. His style of rap goes both ways, and that makes his music even better.

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter from Atlanta wasn’t always famous. He had to get through tough times to make it to where he is today.

His most popular songs on the regular albums are “Commercial,” “Emotionally Scarred,”  “Grace,” “Sum 2 Prove” and “Woah.” “All In,” “Low Down,” “The Bigger Picture” and “We Paid” from the deluxe album are excellent as well.

Lil Baby couldn’t have done it all on his own, though. He had a lot of veteran rappers featured in his songs, and he paired them well with tracks that matched their style and personality. The rappers that were featured are 42 Dugg, Future, Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, Moneybagg Yo, Rylo Rodriguez and Young Thug.

In the song ”The Bigger Picture,” Lil Baby addresses real-world problems like Covid-19, racism and police brutality. He states in the song that “You can fight fire with fire / I know but at least turn up the flames some.” What he means is that people can’t fight racism with racism, but something needs to be done. He proceeds to explain that amidst the terrible incidents involving the police, people forgot about Covid-19. He reminds listeners that we are still in a pandemic and that this year was crazy.

Another track with a deep meaning is “Emotionally Scarred.” In this song, Lil Baby raps about his difficult childhood and how it left him emotionally scarred. He states that he had nothing and grew up in Section 8 housing, but now he is successful and able to afford expensive things.

Even though he is now wealthy and successful, Lil Baby has not forgotten how hard his life had been. Lil Baby had a rough journey, but with “My Turn (Deluxe),” he reveals how he was able to rise above his hardships to become the star he was always meant to be.
