Four years ago, I walked into LHS not knowing what to expect, and now I’m leaving with wonderful memories. Sports and clubs helped me meet new people and have fun. These extracurricular activities made me into the person I am today, but every experience I have had in high school has taught me something and has contributed to my growth as a person.
One great decision I made during high school was joining The Lighthouse. Since enrolling in the journalism elective last year, I have learned so much not only about reporting but also networking. Being able to build a good rapport with people is a life skill that I will use in college and beyond.
I learned from playing baseball that, just like in life, everything isn’t always going to go your way, and being able to deal with challenges and bounce back is very important.
Some of my fondest memories from high school come from my involvement on the football, basketball and baseball teams. I have played these sports my whole life, and it was awesome to be able to continue that throughout my high school career. Going back into the locker room after a big win were some of the best times for my teams, and I can’t wait to continue making these memories as I move on to Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania where I will be playing Division III baseball.
Baseball, specifically, has taught me how to deal with failure. In baseball, I could be without hits in the first two at bats, but then I could get a hit in my next two, and all of a sudden I am batting .500 on the day. I learned from playing baseball that, just like in life, everything isn’t always going to go your way, and being able to deal with challenges and bounce back is very important.
LHS has helped me develop into a better and wiser person. There are so many lessons from high school that I will take with me as I enter college, and I would like to thank LHS for all of them.
