Just like that, I’m done with high school. A part of me is scared to start this new chapter of my life, but another part of me is excited to see what lies ahead.
The past four years went by super quickly for me, especially because in-person learning ended abruptly during my junior year, and then I never really got to go inside of the school my senior year either. Nonetheless, a lot of events have transpired during my time at LHS, and now I feel like I am walking out completely different from who I was as a freshman.
As for the teachers who pushed me, believed in me and cut me some slack when I was at low points in my life, they also changed my life in a positive way.
I give a lot of credit to my teachers and classmates for helping me turn into the person I am today. If it weren’t for the friendships I made at LHS, my life would not be the same. These friendships have helped me get through all the tough times throughout the years and are also the reason why I wake up every morning excited to see what my friends are up to for the day. As for the teachers who pushed me, believed in me and cut me some slack when I was at low points in my life, they also changed my life in a positive way. The teachers showed they cared, and that made me feel like I could not let them down. It motivated me to try and do my best for them.
One of my favorite memories from LHS was when public speaking teacher Mr. Snyder, who has since retired, threw my iPad out the window. That was my first realization that I was not in middle school anymore, and it made me understand I had to grow up. Now at the end of my senior year, I have worked more than three different jobs, gotten my license and even helped my family make financial decisions.
I think I have finally grown up. For that reason, I look forward to seeing what the future holds for me at William Paterson University in Wayne, but I am also sad to leave LHS behind.
