On Nov. 5, the 18th Call of Duty title will be released, and I got lucky enough to play it a month early for a week. The game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision. I got to play the game early by asking a popular YouTuber who goes by the name of Obey Salsa for a code to play the game in the early access phase.
Vanguard is set during World War II. With that being said, the weapons that will be in the game are going to be the Bar, Kar98k, M1928, Sten and many more. Personally my favorite weapon was the “Kar98k” sniper rifle because I loved running around the map sniping people. In the game, players will also be transported to various locations including Berlin, Germany; Gavutu Island, Japan and Paris, France.
I especially loved playing Blitz Patrol, which is a fast-paced 24-48 player game where players essentially become “King of the Hill,” but the hill moves around the map, so players need to be strategizing constantly and making quick decisions.
Vanguard has a variety of game modes to appeal to every playstyle. I especially loved playing Blitz Patrol, which is a fast-paced 24-48 player game where players essentially become “King of the Hill,” but the hill moves around the map, so players need to be strategizing constantly and making quick decisions.
The game will also be released with a campaign story mode that will follow the World War II battles. Later, there will be a zombie mode, but it is going to be developed by Treyarch Studios, which makes a very good zombie mode.
The graphics in this game are also phenomenal. From what I saw, the game looks so realistic. It is apparent that the game developers put so much effort into every detail of Vanguard. Even the animations, such as the reload animations, are good.
The only downside to this game is the time to kill and skill-based matchmaking. The time to kill is way too little, so sometimes you have no chance of surviving. Skill-based matchmaking is very high in this game, so you will be placed into lobbies with people of your skill or higher. This may cause you to wind up in a lobby of people who are trying their hardest when you are just trying to have fun and relax.
Despite this small weakness in Vanguard, I recommend this $60 game and give it an eight out of 10 rating. It is well worth the money because of all the content that will be available upon the full release of the game. This new release will surely put Call of Duty back on the map.
