Caila’s Closet: Top 5 items at the top of my fashion wish list this holiday season

Winter is the season of sweatshirts and sweatpants, but when it’s time to go out, I like to dress to impress. Here are the five must-have items I’ll be sporting this holiday season:

Fuzzy cardigans

Fuzzy cardigans are a 2021 staple. They are warm, cute, functional and completely on-trend. My favorite way to wear them is with a more fitted top, jeans and a cute pair of boots. I’m always cold, so I prefer bigger, looser cardigans with sleeves that are long enough to slightly cover my hands. This winter, stick with cream colors and darker shades like maroon and hunter green.

Tie-dyes

Usually, tie-dyes are associated with the summer, but by wearing subtle patterns in heavier fabrics, this trend can be adapted to the winter. As an alternative, bleach an old black t-shirt to create a one-of-a-kind piece that nobody else will have.

Dark denim on dark denim

Denim on denim is usually a fashion faux pas, but not this season. The way people have been styling their dark denim pieces is eye-catching because it’s so creative and unusual. It harks back to Y2K, and that retro style is very appealing right now.

Mini dresses

It’s counterintuitive to wear a mini dress in the winter, but if you style it just right, it can be the trifecta of cute, comfortable and cozy. Knit or silk mini dresses have been my favorite lately. Pair them with booties for an adorable outfit. Another mini dress style that is super in right now is the long sleeve mini dress, which is perfect for the winter season because it offers more coverage. Whether celebrating the holidays with family or going out to a holiday party, you can’t go wrong with a long sleeve mini dress.

All shades of green

Green is the go-to color this season, and everyone can find a shade that looks good on them. The standout this winter is sage green because it is calming and sophisticated.

This holiday season, consider putting these trending items on your wish list. They’ll revitalize your wardrobe so you can end 2021 strong and head into 2022 with top-notch style.
