As temperatures fall, there are two trends everyone should consider embracing.

One big fashion trend that is appearing on social media, on the street and in stores is the trench coat. Celebrities including Hailey Beiber and Kendall Jenner, both fashion models, have been photographed wearing leather trench coats, but my favorite is the faux leather trench coat.

There are a variety of trench coats. so everybody can find one that fits their style. Styles include a blazer trench coat, traditional trench coat with multiple buttons and those with just one button and a lapel opening. Another style that is becoming popular is the tie-waist, which extenuates body curves.

A trench coat can be dressed up by pairing it with a skirt and tights with a sweater, a blouse with jeans or a fancy dress. Add boots with a heel for a put-together look. Trench coats work with casual attire as well and can be paired with a sweatshirt and sweatpants or even leggings and a t-shirt with sneakers.

Layering can easily be overdone, so try not to piece too many items together.

High-end trench coats are available at Burberry, Chanel, Nordstrom and Pretty Little Thing. If you are on a budget, check out the trench coats at Amazon, Shein, Target, Walmart and Zaful.

Layering is another trend that is all over social media. Pairing a turtleneck under an oversized sweater is an easy way to make your outfit more interesting while staying warm. Cardigans, collared shirts, hoodies and polos are other essentials that look great when paired together.

Layering can easily be overdone, so try not to piece too many items together. You should have a base layer, which will be your undershirt consisting of a polo, turtleneck or any other top that is made of a thin fabric. The middle layer consists of a hoodie, sweater, sweatshirt or t-shirt. The outer layer should consist of a cardigan, coat or jacket. You can, but do not have to, wear all three layers at the same time.

One thing to keep in mind while layering is balancing out an outfit. If you are wearing baggy clothes or multiple garments on top, you should wear a tight fitting bottom. If you are wearing a loose garment on the bottom, opt for a tighter top.

Keep these tips in mind to stay chic, comfy and cozy all winter long.
