Fortnite is again booming with the release of Chapter 3. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 was released on Dec. 5 and will be available through March 19. This season has provided so much content, and it has made the game fun again. According to developers, this season has seen more players than any other season start.
In the new season, user can purchase a new battle pass. The battle pass is 100 tiers, and when each tier is unlocked, a new cosmetic item is given to the player. This costs 950 v-bucks ($8), but you can also buy the battle pass bundle, which instantly gives you 25 tiers for 2,800 v-bucks ($20).
This season was created in collaboration with the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which was released on Dec. 17.
To progress through the battle pass, you need to play and level up to unlock tiers. The battle pass contains 1,500 v-bucks, backblings, emotes, gliders, harvesting tools, skins, vehicle wraps, weapon wraps and other cosmetics. None of these grant any competitive advantages. These are only cosmetic to make your character look the way you want. I think this is worth the money, especially if you buy the normal battle pass, because if you get a lot of cosmetics, you make your money back and more to buy the next battle pass.
During the season change, we also got an updated map. The map is now split into a dessert area, grassy area, snow areas and water areas. The new locations are Camp Cuddle, Chonker’s Speedway, Condo Canyon, Coney Crossroads, Logjam Lumber, Rocky Reels, Sanctuary, Sleepy Sound, The Daily Bugle and The Joneses. Returning locations are Greasy Grove, Shifty Shafts and Tilted Towers. Tilted Towers was previously under snow and ice, but as of Jan. 18, the snow melted and players were able to access Tilted Towers again.
I love landing at Tilted. It always has a lot of people landing there to stack up kills and get a lot of weapons and items.
Fortnite also introduced seven new weapons. The new weapons are the Auto Shotgun, Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper, MK-Seven Assault Rifle, Sidearm Pistol, Stinger SMG and Striker Pump Shotgun. The new healing items are the Guzzle Juice and Med-Mist. The Guzzle juice will heal you up to 100 health in seconds. The Med-Mist will also heal you to 100, but you can aim it at your teammates to heal them as well.
Additionally, a new movement mechanic called sliding was added. When running, the player can hold their crouch button, and it will make them slide. You can use this mechanic to dodge bullets, shoot enemies and travel down slopes more quickly. You can also slide cancel to avoid getting shot at. To slide cancel, you have to press slide again as you are sliding to put the player back into a running position. I like this mechanic because it adds a new type of mobility and feels smooth.
When you win, your player will be granted a crown, which does not influence future games. There is an emote in the game that will display and tell you how many crown wins you have to “flex” on your friends and enemies.
This season was created in collaboration with the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which was released on Dec. 17. In the game, you can purchase new Spider-Man skins, or you can earn one in the battle pass.
The developers also added an item called the Spider-Man web-shooters, which allow you to swing around like Spider-Man. This enables you to move around the map quickly and easily. I love the web-shooters because they are fun to use, and you can do good plays with them.
I am so happy about the comeback of Fortnite and would rate Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 a 9.5 out of 10. It’s very exciting to hop on with friends and play the game just like we all did years ago.
