Watch out for Ja Morant

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been showing off his talent in recent games and has a chance to be this year’s most valuable player.

Morant was drafted to the Memphis Grizzlies as the No. 2 pick in the first round. He attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where he averaged 24.5 points,10 assists and 5.7 rebounds. Morant became the first player in NCAA history to get at least 20 points and 10 assists in a season. He gained recognition during his freshman season at Murray State but rose to fame after his excellent performance during his sophomore season. 

Morant has the ability to amaze crowds with his variety of skills and brings a “wow” factor to the sport.

In a Feb. 28 home game against the San Antonio Spurs, Morant dropped 52 points, which broke his own franchise record for points in a regular-season game. Showing his talent, Morant hit a midair buzzer-beater to end the half, had a huge dunk over 7’1 Jakob Poeltl and hit a deep three from the logo.

Morant has the ability to amaze crowds with his variety of skills and brings a “wow” factor to the sport. With the way Morant has been playing, he is making his case for being the best player in the league. He even got former National Basketball Association star Allen Iverson’s attention, as Iverson tweeted a picture of Morant’s jersey hanging from his MVP trophy. Implying that Morant would become MVP, he captioned it: “Sooner or later.” Morant is currently No. 4 in the Kia MVP ladder, rising one spot from the previous week. 

The Grizzlies are currently second in the Western Conference with a record of 44-22, trailing the Golden State Warriors.

Morant currently has a plus/minus of 3.3 and is averaging 33.3 minutes, 27.5 points and 5.8 rebounds. With his drive and determination, he is sure to keep grinding and getting better.
