As I reflect on my four years, I am overcome with memories that I will always treasure. My time at LHS was awesome, and I will miss being in high school.

Sports have played a crucial role in my life for as long as I can remember. I am proud of my time on the varsity soccer team, where I developed the qualities of determination and commitment.

Ending my high school soccer career with 52 goals, which puts me in the top three goal-scorers in LHS history, is a huge accomplishment. Additionally, I enjoyed my time on the varsity basketball team, as the friendships and memories I made bring a smile to my face. My teammates have become some of my closest friends, and I will miss them dearly.

It can be hard to balance academics, extracurricular clubs, a social life and sports, but nothing good comes easily.

Taking a variety of classes allowed me to form new relationships. Pushing through tough courses with my friends inspired me to do my best.

I want to thank adviser Ms. Pastor for giving me the opportunity to be a two-year member of The Lighthouse and for helping me improve my writing. My favorite contributions to the publication were my head-to-head columns where I voiced my opinions on topics ranging from the rotating drop schedule to virtual snow days and electric vehicles.

I would also like to thank my parents for their support. I am grateful that they never missed any of my games, attended every Academic Awards Dinner and instilled in me the motivation to be successful.

My advice to students is to prioritize your schoolwork. This does not mean you can’t have fun in high school, but your education should come first. It can be hard to balance academics, extracurricular clubs, a social life and sports, but nothing good comes easily.

It is bittersweet that my time in high school is coming to an end. I will miss seeing my favorite teachers and friends every day, but I am excited to continue my education at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, where I will be a nursing major.

I can’t wait to make a positive difference in others’ lives, just as I have benefited from other people’s contributions in my own life.
