Canadian pop/rock singer Tate McRae dropped her sophomore album, “Think Later,” on Dec. 8.

McRae became famous in 2016 when, at just 13 years old, she became the first Canadian finalist on the American reality TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

In 2017, McRae posted the song “One Day,” which she had written in 20 minutes, to her YouTube channel. It got over 40 million views and landed the Calgary-born teenager a contract with RCA Records.

McRae is best known for her hits “You Broke Me First” and “She’s All I Wanna Be,” which were released in 2020 and 2022, respectively. She has reached greatness again in this epic album that includes “Greedy,” a track that has blown up on TikTok.

In “Greedy,” McRae addresses the importance of confidence, self-empowerment and loving oneself. Singing, “Obvious that you want me, but I said / I would want myself,” McRae is upbeat and inspiring.

“Greedy” is one of McRae’s uplifting tracks, but other songs have a more serious tone.

McRae starts off the album with a song called “Cut My Hair” where she sings about her efforts to change her physical appearance to make her ex-boyfriend miss her and want her again, but she realizes that she has lost herself in the process. The song is appealing because of its interesting plot and catchy beat.

In the song “We’re Not Alike,” McRae sings about the betrayal she feels after a female friend captured the attention of a guy they were both interested in. In the chorus, McRae sings, “Said she was a girl’s girl, that’s a lie / Said she had my back but she had the knife.”

McRae regrets her poor judgment and vows to move on.

This track is among the most emotional on the album because of its vengeful message. McRae sings about how she regrets telling her friend about her love interest.

“Greedy” is one of McRae’s uplifting tracks, but other songs have a more serious tone.

So many songs on the album are addictive and likable, but the best one is “Run for the Hills,” which has a bright vibe that makes listeners want to get up and dance. In this song, McRae sings about how she always wants to be with her lover and get physically closer to him.

McRae starts off “Run for the Hills” with a calm beat that later slows down while gaining intensity. This shift makes the song memorable.

McRae’s latest album shines because no matter what emotions listeners are experiencing in their own lives, they will find tracks to which they connect.

At just 20 years old, McRae has created an album that conveys skill and maturity beyond her years, giving fans hope she will have a long and successful career ahead.
