I joined the journalism program as a shy sophomore and immediately fell in love with it. Little did I know, it was not just a school newspaper, but an opportunity for personal growth.
From covering school sporting events to creating infographics, each assignment allowed me to refine my skills while doing what I love.
I am beyond grateful to have been part of The Lighthouse for three remarkable years.
For the past two years, I have served as the publication’s webmaster, formatting and posting my classmates’ work on The Lighthouse website. Through this position and my membership in the Future Business Leaders of America Club, where I competed alongside my best friends, seniors Nikki Antonesco and Serena Berges, I learned how to create, lay out and organize website content.
I am beyond grateful to have been part of The Lighthouse for three remarkable years. It was a privilege to contribute to a publication that not only informs and inspires but also nurtures the talents of its members.
What made my time at The Lighthouse so special was the camaraderie and community within the journalism classroom.
As an editor, I enjoyed guiding and supporting my group–sophomore Isabella Apple and juniors Drew Bancroft, Chiara Cardone, Sena Fidan and Autumn Ortiz–while witnessing their improvement. Next year, I will miss working with them and our journalism teacher, Ms. Pastor.
Additionally, I would like to thank my science and math teachers: Mr. Carucci, Mr. Collins, Mr. DeVito, Dr. Dunn, Mr. Falcicchio and Mr. Franklin. Their guidance and belief in my potential is the driving force behind my decision to study engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. With each lesson they taught, my teachers imparted valuable knowledge and instilled in me a sense of curiosity and determination to overcome challenges.
I will always carry the spirit of The Lighthouse and the dedication of the high school’s faculty with me.
Even though my education at LHS is coming to an end, I am confident the lessons I learned over the past four years will serve me well for a lifetime.
