Preparing for college has been exciting and challenging as I evaluate my options for New Jersey colleges and universities that I can commute to.
Simultaneously, I remain dedicated to finishing my high school career with good grades and acquiring scholarships to help me fund the next step in my academic journey.
An important step for me has been visiting the schools I have been admitted to. Those visits have allowed me to interact with students and get a feel for daily life on each campus.
Touring the campuses is helping me decide which school is the best fit for me, as I consider factors such as academic programs, campus facilities and extracurricular activities. As I plan to study accounting, I am looking for a business-focused school that will fit my needs.
While I wait to receive responses from the rest of the schools I applied to, I strive to stay focused on my current academic responsibilities. These include studying for tests and keeping up with daily classwork and homework. Balancing these tasks with college preparation can be challenging, but maintaining a strong GPA is essential to demonstrating a commitment to education.
Additionally, applying for scholarships is a crucial step for seniors. Scholarships can provide significant financial support, making college more affordable and reducing the burden of student loans.

Therefore, seniors who have applied to college using the Common App platform should consider using its financial aid tab to view available scholarships they are eligible for.
College-bound seniors can also review the scholarship resources–which include links to Fastweb.com and Scholarships.com–that are featured on the LHS Student Services Department website.
By staying organized and focusing on their academic goals, seniors can navigate this busy time and prepare for a smooth transition to college. While this preparation may be intimidating, it will surely pay off next school year.
