When the Class of 2025 started high school, we were in the midst of a global pandemic. It was a strange experience entering high school with a mask mandate in place. However, I was excited about my new beginning.
High school has consisted of a series of ups and downs, but my personal growth has made the difficult moments worthwhile.
I decided to join LHS’ journalism program to leave behind a small legacy. I knew that my love for writing would allow me to make meaningful contributions to The Lighthouse. This school year, I authored a fashion column, news articles, a head-to-head opinion piece and a personal narrative. I am proud to have taken on these projects.

Public speaking, which I took during my freshman year, is another class that heavily impacted me. It was the first time I explored this skill, and I plan to use the lessons I learned in the future.
Additionally, LHS introduced me to the joy of volunteer work. After receiving an email from the Student Services Department last school year, I started volunteering with Special Angels Recreation, a Lyndhurst-based organization that supports individuals with special needs. It was gratifying to offer my assistance during cheer practices, dance classes and performances.
This fall, I also volunteered with the Lyndhurst Parks and Recreation Soccer Program for Exceptional Individuals, helping adults with special needs improve their soccer skills.
My commitment to volunteering made me realize I have a passion for helping others, which is why I will be studying speech-language pathology at the William Paterson University Honors College in Wayne. My goal is to work in a hospital assisting patients with disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. Effective communication is essential in daily life, so I want to guide others as they work toward this goal.
My time as a Golden Bear is ending, but I am excited to discover what awaits me as a Pioneer. I am confident LHS has prepared me for college and my prospective career.
