The countdown to graduation is on, and while I’m not ready to admit that senior year is wrapping up, I’m ecstatic that it is finally my turn to write a senior tribute.
Like other graduating seniors, my high school years have had highs and lows, but I’m glad I had the chance to experience all of the milestones here at LHS.
Since freshman year, I’ve thrown myself into every opportunity. I played sports, took on leadership roles, traveled the United States, co-hosted the morning announcements, wrote award-winning articles and worked. However, as I look back on all that I have done, I wish I had done even more.
At the beginning of my junior year, I got a part-time job at George J. Lubertazzo Family Chiropractic in Rutherford. Although this decision meant I had to stop playing sports, let go of some leadership positions and slow down the pace of my academics, the experience that employment gave me is one I wouldn’t trade for athletics or extracurriculars. I learned customer service skills, witnessed hundreds of patients’ health improve, met coworkers who became some of my closest friends and bought myself a car at 17.
Since freshman year, I’ve thrown myself into every opportunity.
I would like to thank all of my teachers and club advisors who have shared timeless advice and encouraged me throughout these years. Thank you for every pep talk and hug that pushed me to be better.
I also want to thank my siblings. As a middle child, sharing LHS’ halls with at least one of them every year has provided me with a rare kind of comfort, and the amount of unspoken support they give each day makes it much harder to think about leaving for college.
In the fall, I will continue my academic journey at Temple University in Philadelphia, where I will major in Business Administration. I am so excited for this next chapter in my life, and I’m ready to take on every opportunity that the next four years offer me as an Owl.
My biggest advice to high schoolers is to get involved. Take risks, don’t fear failure and have no regrets. As you approach graduation and have your plans set, nothing but your memories will matter.
