I was unsure what to expect when I signed up for Ms. Pastor’s journalism class for my junior year. In fact, I only included it on my course requests because I needed to fulfill my 21st Century Life and Careers graduation requirement.
Little did I know that I would fall in love with the program.
Being part of The Lighthouse for the past two years has been nothing short of incredible, as it brought me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to become more confident.
Whether I was conducting interviews or formatting content for The Lighthouse website, being a student journalist has been an indispensable part of my high school career.
I would particularly like to thank The Lighthouse adviser, Ms. Pastor. Having her as my English II-Honors and journalism teacher has been an enriching experience, as her lessons have pushed me to strengthen my writing skills and explore topics I am passionate about.
Through the journalism program, I have also formed connections with my classmates and become more involved in the Lyndhurst community.
From my experience, navigating high school becomes a lot easier when you are not alone. I could not be luckier to have such an amazing support system consisting of family, friends and educators, as they push me to be the best version of myself.
All my efforts go toward repaying my family for their part in molding me into the young man I am today. I do not know where I would be without them, and I look forward to the day when I can support them the way they have supported me.

Besides my family, I am grateful to all my teachers at LHS. The knowledge they have instilled in me is as valuable as gold, and I promise to put it to good use during the next phase of my education.
Although I will spend the next four years studying electrical engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, I will always remember and cherish my time at LHS.
As I conclude my senior tribute, I leave my readers with this advice: Never be afraid to embrace the unfamiliar and make mistakes, for our mistakes pave the way to our future success.
This advice has served me well, and I hope it does the same for other students.
