Twenty-six students performed in 20 acts at LHS’ annual talent show, Lyndhurst’s Got Talent in the auditorium on Oct. 15. This year’s panel of faculty judges consisted of music teacher and band director Mr. Chwalyk, English teacher Mrs. Ruiz, gym teacher Coach Tuero and choir director Ms. Wise, who also offered feedback to the students and selected the winners.
The event was hosted by sophomores Nicohlas Brennen and Alexandra Ruiz, who introduced each act and provided humor to keep the audience entertained.
At the end of the evening, the judges presented the following acts with awards:
- First place: Seniors Lucas Guerrero, Salma Oweida, Joseph Brennen, who sang “Basket Case” by Green Day and “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance
- Second place (tied): Sophomore Alexa Longo, who sang “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the movie “Funny Girl”
- Second place (tied): Junior Joey Romeo, who sang “My Petersburg” from the movie “Anastasia”
- Third place: Freshmen Bruce Bartlett, Aiden Delgado, Kaleb Maldonado and Joseph Sapone, who performed “Tomorrow” by Silverchair
Honorable mention awards went to these four acts:
- Seniors Joseph Brennen and Rebecca Ruiz, who performed “Love is an Open Door” from the movie “Frozen”
- Senior Kesiah Boyd, who sang “Die on this Hill” by Sienna Spiro
- Freshman Lorena Gonzalez, who tap danced to “Watch What Happens” from the musical “Newsies”
- Senior George Shekiladze, who played “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder on the piano
