Many people have heard of the indie horror game series Poppy Playtime, and for those who haven’t, it’s time to buckle up, because this series is quite a thrill. So far in the series, there are four chapters, each a continuation of the last. This article will focus on Chapter 2, released on May 5, 2022.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is set in the Poppy Co. facility in the early ‘90s, a franchise that specializes in making toys for children. But somewhere along those lines, something goes wrong. The scientists in the facility were meddling with children and toys, trying to combine them in one, though it backfired when the toys had a mind of their own and decided to rebel. After that incident, the franchise shut down forever.
The player in this game is a past worker trying to find survivors from the incident, but ends up being trapped by the toys. There are special videotapes and letters that players can collect throughout the game to learn about what’s happened. When players piece together the facts to uncover the whole story, they can successfully exit the factory, ending the game.
One of the best aspects of the game is its visuals, which are detailed and realistic, making it a step up from the original, released on Oct. 12, 2021. Although there are some minor bugs and glitches, the game looks and plays fantastically overall.
The game’s atmosphere is also captivating and unnerving. It exudes an eerie aura that keeps players on edge. The characters, music, setting and story all work together to create an alternate reality that is lively and immersive.
