Teachers have many responsibilities, including lesson planning, creating review packets, developing assessments, grading and completing required administrative tasks. With so much to do, artificial intelligence can boost their performance and productivity.
First, AI makes teachers more efficient, allowing them to devote more time to directly assisting students. Routine tasks, such as creating seating charts and grouping students, can be completed quickly, leaving more time for meaningful classroom interaction.
While AI should not replace a teacher’s final review, it can streamline the grading process.
AI is especially helpful in supporting English Language Learners, students with learning disabilities and those who require different instructional methods. It can create enrichment activities, generate subtitles, read text aloud, simplify assignments and translate. This makes education more effective and equitable.
AI can also assist educators in grading. For instance, teachers can use AI to leave comments on an essay by entering a rubric, enabling them to return assessments more quickly.
While AI should not replace a teacher’s final review, it can streamline the grading process. Likewise, students benefit from this prompt feedback because they can immediately incorporate it into upcoming assignments.
Lastly, teachers who utilize AI prepare students for a future driven by the technology. AI is used in almost every career, including financial services, healthcare and marketing. By integrating it into lessons, educators can prepare pupils for the future while modeling creative and responsible uses of AI.
AI is not a replacement for teachers but a useful tool. By welcoming AI, teachers can focus on what matters most: helping students learn, grow and succeed in a rapidly changing world.
