Senior Tributes

Emma Bannon, editor

June 8, 2024

I will always treasure the time I spent and the memories I made at LHS. Four years ago, I started high school as a timid freshman taking courses virtually due to the pandemic. Now, I cannot believe I am about to graduate, and I think about how the past four years have shaped me.

I joined the journalism program last year after having The Lighthouse adviser Ms. Pastor as my teacher in English II Honors during my sophomore year. I thank her for pushing me out of my comfort zone and teaching me so much. Because of Ms. Pastor, I have improved my writing and communication skills through the articles I have authored and interviews I have conducted.

I also thank The Lighthouse for bringing me closer to my friends, senior copy editor Lily Anderson, sophomore editor Zahara Chowdhury, sophomore staff writer Alexa Cizek and junior editor Shelby Perez. These individuals have greatly impacted me throughout my journey as a writer and editor, and I am grateful for them.

Finally, I thank my parents and friends for their support. I could not have done all I have without them by my side.

Outside of The Lighthouse, I competed on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. This year, I served as president of the Future Business Leaders of America Club, vice president of the Athletic Training Club and corresponding secretary of the National Honor Society. I am also a member of the Environmental Club, Law Enforcement Club, Tech Club and World Language Honor Society. I thank the members and advisors of each of these clubs and organizations for helping me excel as a student, athlete and person.

I would specifically like to give a shoutout to FBLA Club advisors Mrs. Jankowski and Mrs. Silvelo, Athletic Trainer Tom Thomas and outdoor track and field Head Coach Tuero. I thank all of them for the positive impact they had on me during my time at LHS.

Finally, I thank my parents and friends for their support. I could not have done all I have without them by my side.

For the next four years, I will be attending Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania where I will major in biomedical sciences. Although I will no longer be a Lyndhurst student, I will forever bleed blue and gold.
