With great excitement for this holiday season comes a great amount of stress. Purchasing gifts, preparing for large family gatherings and attending seasonal events require a lot of time.
Brainstorming and paying for gifts can be an exasperating task, which is worsened by the pressure of social media. During the holiday season, social media platforms frequently recommend videos and show advertisements for trending gifts.
Oftentimes, these gifts set unrealistic expectations because they are expensive and unattainable for an ordinary teen.
Getting ready for the holidays does not have to be overwhelming.
To avoid making comparisons, it is helpful to take a break from social media. Removing this prominent source of stress and insecurity can benefit one’s state of mind. It can reduce pressure to chase unreachable standards and instead choose something heartfelt or practical.
Amid the responsibilities of holiday preparations, it can become difficult to find some downtime. However, it is crucial to make time for oneself and focus on maintaining a positive mindset. To make this possible, one could reserve 15-20 minutes each day to fulfill a responsibility unrelated to the holiday season or engage in an enjoyable activity or hobby, such as exercising, knitting or reading.
Getting ready for the holidays does not have to be overwhelming. People can take part in activities that bring out the joy of the holiday spirit. These include baking cookies, decorating gingerbread houses, listening to festive music and watching Christmas movies.

Along with engaging in holiday activities, it is important to spend time with family and friends. Cooking a holiday meal together or cuddling up by the fireplace with some hot chocolate can bring about feelings of appreciation and fulfillment.
Another valuable practice is gratitude. Therefore, people should take time each day to reflect on what they are grateful for. In doing so, they supply themselves with an uplifting mentality to have a serene holiday season.
The holidays will inevitably bring some stress. However, by employing these strategies and coping mechanisms, people can ensure this holiday season will be fruitful, merry and bright.
