On Dec. 12, students in LHS’ music program performed holiday songs for a packed crowd of family, friends and community members. The night consisted of performances by the chorale, concert choir, jazz ensemble, instrumental ensemble and select choir. These groups were led by band director Mr. Dellosa, choral accompanist Mr. Lang and choral director Ms. Wise.
The select choir performed “O Holy Night” with soloists sophomore JJ Akman, senior Julia Brubaker, freshman Natalia Ferrulli, junior David Fonseca, junior Jozlyn Marizan, senior Mikayla Poggi, junior Sarah Sammarone and freshman Daniela Soto-Gallego. All-State Mixed Choir trio senior Jenna Freitas, senior Matthew Madonna and sophomore Alexis O’Rourke performed “Winter Wonderland.”
Other holiday favorites included “Feliz Navidad,” performed by the jazz ensemble with an alto saxophone solo by senior Ornella Novak and the classic duet “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” from Fonseca and O’Rourke, who were accompanied by the jazz ensemble.
The night ended with a performance by the concert band and concert choir during which Lang came out dressed as Santa Claus and led the concert band and concert choir in a holiday sing-along to “Frosty the Snowman,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Let it Snow,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Silver Bells.” At the conclusion of the concert, the band released fake snow and the whole audience sang to some holiday classics.
