The Parade of Pride began at Delafield Avenue on Dec. 8 at noon with five military veterans kicking off the event in full uniform. Following the veterans were members of the color guard twirling their purple flags and the band performing right behind them.
LHS football players, led by Head Coach Tuero, appeared next. They walked together as a group and were followed by fire trucks blaring their sirens.
The parade ended at the football field where a small ceremony was held to recognize the team’s accomplishments as 2019 NJSIAA North 1 Group State Sectional Champions, 2019 NJIC Champions and 2019 NJIC Liberty Champions. The ceremony also honored Tuero for earning the 2019 Bergen County Coach of the Year award.
Mayor Robert Giangeruso, athletic director Mr. Radigan, Tuero and principal Ms. Vuono all spoke at the event. Tuero thanked his friends, family and the Lyndhurst community for all the support and motivation that led to the football team’s success. The ceremony wrapped up with doughnuts, coffee and hot chocolate being served at the concession stand.
