Well, here it is, the day that I’ve been dreading. I could talk about anything—especially sports—for hours. If you want me to talk about myself, it’s hard, but I can do that too.
During my time at LHS, I discovered my hidden talent, which is writing. I didn’t realize my love for it until my sophomore year when I enrolled in creative writing. That class really opened my eyes. LHS has taught me many things, but football Coach Castagnetti, football Head Coach Tuero, band director Mr. Dellosa and English teacher Mrs. Ruiz have helped me the most along the way.
My four years of playing football were memorable and special. Everyone who was in the locker room knows the song called “Do or Die” by Thirty Seconds to Mars. We listened and danced to it after every win. I learned the true meaning of the line “I will never forget the moments” this season because we won the state championship.
I also got a firsthand understanding of the line “that’s how the story goes” because my high school football career has officially come to a close. Ending my football career with a state championship win was amazing, and I could not have imagined it any other way.
I want to thank the Good Lord for making me a Lyndhurst Golden Bear.
Another memorable part of high school was playing the baritone in the band, which I have been a part of since sixth grade. It is unfortunate I will not be able to enjoy what would have been my final band trip, as these annual trips have provided me with great memories and additional opportunities to get close to my fellow band members.
Next year, I plan on attending Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. with hopes of becoming a sports broadcaster. That is something I have wanted to do for a while because of my love of sports, especially football and baseball.
I would especially like to thank The Lighthouse adviser Ms. Pastor for welcoming me into the journalism program this year. I wanted to take the journalism class since my freshman year, and I’m glad I was finally able to fit it into my schedule.
To sum it all up, LHS, thank you for all of the memories, the good and the bad.
Baseball player Joe DiMaggio wisely said, “I want to thank the Good Lord for making me a Yankee.” Likewise, I want to thank the Good Lord for making me a Lyndhurst Golden Bear.
