On Dec. 11, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift came out with a new album “Evermore.” Swift proved to be most productive during quarantine as fans get to appreciate the surprise album.
Senior John Castrillon said he enjoys listening to new music, and he was glad to hear about this album drop.
“I always get excited listening to new music, especially Taylor Swift because she isn’t so common anymore,” Castrillon said.
Castrillon said he loved listening to Swift a few years back when her career peaked.
“This new album reminded me of when I was young and listened to her music and I loved it,” Castrillon said.
Swift focuses on American pop and country music. Five of her songs, including “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Look What You Made Me Do,” topped the Billboard Hot 100. The former two were released in 2014 while the latter in 2017.
Swift has received several awards for her music such as the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, Billboard Music Award for Top Artist and MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year. Swift is now the first female to have eight consecutive No. 1 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 and has the shortest gap between two No. 1 albums by a woman.

Junior Gina Tortorello has been a fan of Swift for a few years as well. She said she is a big fan of music and the work Swift has recently been producing.
“I used to not be a huge fan of Taylor’s music, but recently it has grown on me,” Tortorello said.
Tortorello finds Swift to be a great influence on others and looks up to her, so when she drops new music, it is an exciting moment.
“This album is relatable and calming to me, and it makes me feel happy,” Tortorello said.
Before this album, Swift published “Folklore” during quarantine, which led the songwriter to surprise release it shortly after the project came together. The week after its release, however, she decided to keep writing. Five months later, “Evermore” is out for the world to stream, and Swift is ready to close this two-part series.
Senior Joelle Montillo said she wishes Swift would have come out with similar albums.
“After being bored in quarantine for so long, I was so glad to hear that Taylor was coming out with a new album that I could listen to,” Montillo said.
In the past, Swift had written mainly country music and her genres have changed from time to time.
Montillo said she became interested in this artist early on when Swift started singing country.
“I am a big fan of country music, and that’s how I started listening to Taylor,” Montillo said. “Ever since then, I have been listening to her music. Even though it has changed a lot, but I grew up with Taylor.”
