The Lighthouse’s Athlete of the Month is senior Bryan Cosman. He is a left midfielder and left back on the boys varsity soccer team.
Cosman began playing soccer when he was just five-years-old.
“I grew up watching my brother play at the highest level of soccer,” Cosman said. “He inspired me to always do my best since I was young, and he is definitely my biggest inspiration.”
He said he felt confident coming into his most recent season because of his team’s connection with each other. Even though Covid-19 complicated the season, the team still made it to states.
“I feel really confident going to college because I’m going to be playing with the best players around the U.S. and kids from other countries.”
“Feeling the excitement of winning is unlike anything else. I love imagining myself in my own world while I’m playing. It’s relaxing and definitely one of the best things to experience,” Cosman said.
In the fall, Cosman will be playing soccer at Columbia University, an Ivy League school in New York City. Cosman said this has been his biggest accomplishment, and he cannot wait to reach his full potential in college.
“I feel really confident going to college because I’m going to be playing with the best players around the U.S. and kids from other countries,” Cosman said. “It will definitely be a challenge but one I will look forward to.”
