Senior Tributes

To think I will be graduating high school in just a few days feels surreal. I remember being the scared freshman in the halls of LHS, hoping I did not walk into the wrong class. Everyone told me high school will be the quickest four years of my life, and they were right. Now I am a senior, counting down the final days until graduation and reminiscing about my time as an underclassman.

Senior year was unlike any other. From starting school later than usual, to being all-virtual, to going into school wearing masks, to deciding what college to attend, it has been one unpredictable year. However, I am thankful for the opportunities I have gotten at LHS.

As a senior, I looked forward to the fashion show, banquet and Project Graduation. I am grateful that I was able to experience those special events and make memories with everyone before college.

I want to thank LHS Athletics for teaching me how to be a team player and, most importantly, how to become a better person. To the girls softball and basketball teams, thank you for showing me what it is like to have a second family. To Coach Fusco and Coach Mosca, thank you for inspiring me to become a better leader and player. Without you, I would not have been able to grow and learn from my mistakes.

As a senior, I looked forward to the fashion show, banquet and Project Graduation. I am grateful that I was able to experience those special events and make memories with everyone before college.

I owe a big thank you to the faculty and staff at LHS who have provided me with all I need to be successful. To my guidance counselors, Mr. Rowland and Ms. Stacy, thank you for guiding me through the college application process and helping me become an independent woman.

I also want to thank The Lighthouse staff and adviser Ms. Pastor. Without her help, I would not be the confident writer I am today. I am so thankful for her lessons, which I will use as a Communication & Media Studies and journalism major. I have no doubt that what she has taught me will help me not only in college but also in my career.

I never realized how difficult and exhilarating the college decision-making process would be, but with that behind me, I am excited to continue my education at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. I will miss LHS and the people, but I am glad to be starting a new chapter in my life.
