God of War, which premiered in 2018, gives players an action-adventure gaming experience like no other. The animation, graphics and storyline will make you feel like you are inside the video game, which is available for PlayStation 4 and 5.
The sophisticated animation makes every character detailed and realistic. The graphics run at 30 frames per second and at 1080p on the PS4. On the PS5, there is a mode where you can run better graphics and animation, which is called Enhanced Performance Experience mode. It allows players to run 60 frames per second with 4k resolution.
Even though God of War is one of my top three all-time favorite games, there is still room for improvement. Ideally, the developers would have created a longer adventure that includes more gods who could convey more knowledge about mythology.
God of War is especially captivating because it is based on Norse mythology. It follows the adventures of Kratos, a brawny protagonist with white skin and red marks. He has a son named Atreus, and together, they go on adventures where they encounter mythical creatures and gods in addition to solving puzzles.
Kratos and Atreus are out on an adventure to throw their mother’s ashes into the highest peak of all the nine realms, which is Jötunheim. They can travel to the other realms—two of which are called Aesir and Vanir—through a tree called the World Tree.
God of War took home the Game of the Year title at the Game Awards in 2018 and Best Music at the Bafta Games Awards in 2019.
Even though God of War is one of my top three all-time favorite games, there is still room for improvement. Ideally, the developers would have created a longer adventure that includes more gods who could convey more knowledge about mythology. More fighting styles and bosses would also make the game more exciting. This would be an excellent addition to the game because as players fight bosses, they learn more fighting styles.
Despite its weaknesses, God of War includes conflicts and characters that draw players in and keep their attention. Combined with its excellent animation, players will feel transported into another world and have a sense of achievement when they finally finish the game.
