Located at 61 Park Ave. in Rutherford, Roll Thai’d Creamery, which opened its doors in January, is the perfect place to go during a warm spring day.

After hearing about Roll Thai’d Creamery from my friends in journalism class, I was excited to check it out myself.

When I first walked in, I was welcomed by friendly employees and a vibrant aesthetic. The walls are bright yellow, there are colorful sticky notes on the wall and chalkboards behind the counter feature their menu. Glass paneling at the counter enhances the customer’s experience because they can see their ice cream being prepared.

I enjoyed this ice cream a lot because it was not too sweet and it was very soft.

Rolled ice cream originated in Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand. It is made when a thin layer of batter is spread on an anti-griddle. Then, the batter, which has become ice cream, is rolled using a spatula into cylinder shapes and put into a cup before toppings are added.

Roll Thai’d Creamery definitely has a lot of space inside for customers to enjoy their ice cream, but there are also tables outside so patrons can enjoy the nice weather.

I had decided that I was going to get the Bananatella ($9), which is a Hong Kong Egg Bubble Waffle. It comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, and the waffle is then topped with banana and Nutella. I enjoyed this ice cream a lot because it was not too sweet and it was very soft. The waffle was soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside, which gave the item the crunch it needed.

I also got Pink Milk with tapioca pearls ($6). Like the vanilla ice cream, the Pink Milk had the right about of sweetness. It had a unique taste with floral hints, and I would definitely get it again.

My dad got the peanut butter rolled ice cream ($8.50), which has a sweet cream base and Reese’s peanut butter added to it. It was topped with chunks of KitKats and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. My dad enjoyed his ice cream a lot, as it was packed with a lot of flavor.

My sister Sofia ordered the Cookie Monster rolled ice cream ($8.50), which has a sweet cream base and bits of Oreos mixed into it. It was then topped with an Oreo and Pocky, a sweet biscuit stick coated with chocolate. My sister said her ice cream tasted exactly like Oreos and remained smooth even though we left it in the freezer for a few hours.

Everything but the Pink Milk was topped with whipped cream, which is optional, along with chocolate and strawberry syrup. Roll Thai’d Creamery also gives you the option to create your own combination of ice cream and toppings if you don’t like the ones that are offered.

Especially with warm weather approaching, I will definitely be returning to Rolled Thai’d Creamery. With unique options, delicious flavors and a welcoming ambiance, it’s too good to refuse.
