Lily Anderson
StaffThis is Lily’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. She enjoys listening to music and playing the alto saxophone, clarinet and tenor saxophone in the band. In her free time, she likes to play video games and watch TV shows. She enjoys hanging out with her friends. She is excited to be authoring articles for The Lighthouse this year.

Julia Anthony
StaffThis is Julia’s first year in the journalism program. She is also a member of the Athletic Training Club and Italian Club. She enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, reading, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. In college, she plans to study pre-law and aspires to continue her academic career in law school. Julia looks forward to contributing her creativity and vibrant personality to help create success for the Lighthouse this year.

Nikki Antonesco
Managing EditorThis is Nikki’s third year in the journalism program and first year serving as managing editor. She enjoys listening to music, playing the guitar and spending time with her friends. In college, she plans to study forensic psychology. Nikki looks forward to being successful in the newspaper this year.

Lexi Augustyniak
Copy EditorThis is Alexa’s second year in the journalism program and first year as a copy editor. She enjoys playing varsity soccer, basketball and flag football. She enjoys spending time with friends and family. She hopes to use her editing skills to contribute to the success of The Lighthouse.

Emma Bannon
StaffThis is Emma’s first year in the journalism program. She is the treasurer for the Future Business Leaders of America and is a member of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She is also a member of the Athletic Trainer Club, Medical Club and True Crime Club. As a member of The Lighthouse staff, Emma looks forward to learning more about journalism and improving her writing skills.

Caila Barreiros
StaffThis is Caila’s fourth year in the journalism program. She enjoys dancing and pageantry. She loves teaching her dance students in the Lyndhurst dance program as well as volunteering and giving back. Caila aspires to pursue a career in fashion merchandising. Her goal is also to improve as a writer.

Isabella Bartlett
StaffThis is Isabella’s first year in the journalism program. They are a member of the color guard and manager for the cross country team. In their free time, Isabella likes collecting CDs and records, drawing, playing guitar and upcycling clothes. They are happy to be a part of The Lighthouse staff and share their thoughts with the community.

Charlie Benjamin
StaffThis is Charlie’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. He enjoys creating digital art, drawing comics and playing video games. He hopes to one day have his own animated cartoon. He intends to spend most of his high school career with The Lighthouse.

Shirley Bermejo
StaffThis is Shirley’s first year in journalism class. She enjoys hanging out with friends, spending time with her family, shopping and running on the cross country team. Through her membership on The Lighthouse staff, she looks forward to becoming a better writer.

Emilia Calabrese
Editor-in-ChiefThis is Emilia’s third year in the journalism program and second year as editor-in-chief. She is involved in Crochet Club, Italian Club, Law Enforcement Club, National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society. In her free time, Emilia likes cooking, watching Netflix and spending time with friends and family. She looks forward to serving as a mentor to other students in her last year on The Lighthouse staff.

Elize Cardona
StaffThis is Elize’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. She enjoys the outdoors, volleyball, hanging out with friends, ice skating, reading, watching movies and spending time with family members. She looks forward to working on the design portion for the school newspaper, which includes cover art, illustrations and infographics. She was recommended for this program by her graphic design teacher and is excited to showcase her skills.

Vielka Castillo
StaffThis is Vielka’s first year in the journalism program. She enjoys spending time with her friends and listening to music. She is on the cross country team and is a member of the International Culture Club. Her goal is to maintain her interest in writing, as it is a way for her to express her thoughts and better herself as a journalist.

Zahara Chowdhury
StaffThis is Zahara’s first year in the journalism program. They play the saxophone in the band. In their free time, they enjoy cooking and reading. They also like to take photos, watch movies and write. Zahara hopes to study psychology in the future. They are excited to be a part of The Lighthouse staff and intend to remain in the journalism program for the rest of their high school career.

Janset Cinaz
EditorThis is Janset’s second year in the journalism program and first year as an editor. She is the voice of the school on the morning announcements and enjoys public speaking. Janset spends her free time reading and playing volleyball. This year, Janset is co-hosting the podcast “The Gold Standard.” Her goal is to improve her speaking skills and have fun while doing so.

StaffThis is Julian Cruz’s first year in the journalism program. He enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with family and friends. Julian hopes to improve his writing skills through his work at The Lighthouse.

Mirka Cuadros
Deputy EditorThis is Mirka’s third year in the journalism program. She has also taken initiative in presenting New Voices legislation to Governor Phil Murphy, which was signed in late 2021. In her free time, she enjoys riding her bike, watching movies and hanging out with friends. Mirka is excited to lead class discussions and author editorials as the newspaper’s deputy editor this year.

Brook D'Andrea
StaffThis is Brook’s second year on The Lighthouse staff. Brook enjoys playing volleyball and hanging out with friends. One of her goals is to get better at volleyball. Brook looks forward to venturing out and writing articles in a variety of genres.

Tala Daoud
StaffThis is Tala’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. She enjoys going out with friends and family, reading books, watching Netflix and playing sports. In addition to being part of the journalism program, Tala is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. She looks forward to achieving her goals by being a good staff member and writer.

Amerie Diaz
StaffThis is Amerie's third year in the journalism program. She enjoys learning to code, reading and writing. In her free time, she likes taking care of her ferrets. She looks forward to authoring interesting articles for The Lighthouse.

Maksym Dmochowski
StaffThis is Maksym’s first year in the journalism program. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and competing on the boys soccer team. As a member of The Lighthouse staff, Maksym looks forward to sharing his thoughts about professional sports.

Camille Echols
StaffThis is Camille’s second year on The Lighthouse staff. She is president of the Book Club and secretary of the Environmental Club. She also volunteers at the Humane Society of Bergen County once a week. She enjoys writing as a hobby but is more interested in pursuing a career in architecture or graphic design. After spending a year away from the journalism program, she is excited to be returning this year.

Angela Ellis
WebmasterThis is Angela’s fourth year on The Lighthouse staff. Some activities she enjoys are drawing, watching Netflix, hanging out with her family and friends and playing with her two dogs. She is the school’s mascot and is on the indoor and outdoor track teams. Angela is looking forward to excelling in her second year of being webmaster and her third year as an editor. She also cannot wait to take many more photos for The Lighthouse.

Ava Gonzalez
StaffThis is Ava’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. Some activities she enjoys are listening to music, watching Netflix and going for walks. She is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Mock Trial Club and Model United Nations. She is also the secretary of the Medical Club. Ava hopes to one day pursue a career in psychology. She is excited to continue writing and learn more about journalism.

Michelle Gozdek
StaffThis is Michelle's first year on The Lighthouse staff. Some activities she enjoys are spending time with her friends, painting and drawing, selecting outfits and hanging out with her cats. She is a share-time student at Bergen Technical High School in Paramus where she studies media production. She hopes to finish her high school career with a successful year taking photos for The Lighthouse.

StaffThis is Natalia’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. She is a member of the concert band and marching band. Natalia enjoys playing her flute, listening to music, watching movies and spending time with her friends. She hopes to have a successful year working for The Lighthouse.

In her free time, she hangs out with her friends and family, listens to music and watches Netflix. She also takes part in clubs including the Future Business Leaders of America, Italian Club and True Crime Club. She is excited to be a member of The Lighthouse staff and intends to remain in the journalism program for the rest of her high school career.

She is a member of the International Culture Club, Mock Trial Club, Model United Nations and World Language Honor Society. Elida hopes to write many articles this year on various topics ranging from school news to controversial issues.

StaffThis is Nia’s first year in journalism class. In her spare time, she likes to hang out with her friends, go outside and listen to her favorite hip-hop artists. She hopes to pursue a career as an architect. She enjoys writing, as it helps her express her thoughts. Nia is excited to see where her experiences in journalism will take her.

WebmasterThis is Anastasia’s second year on The Lighthouse staff. She is a member of multiple clubs and serves as vice president of two clubs: the Animal Welfare Club and True Crime Club. She is also the treasurer of the Medical Club. Anastasia enjoys playing club volleyball, writing sports articles and swimming competitively.

StaffThis is Clare’s first year in the journalism program. She is looking forward to writing a variety articles and reviewing shows on Hulu. Some activities she enjoys are listening to music, watching shows and movies, hanging out with friends and cooking. She hopes to improve her writing skills through her work on The Lighthouse staff.

EditorThis is Gianfranco’s second year on The Lighthouse staff and his first year as an editor. He is working on a podcast titled “Surveillance Spotlight” to educate his listeners about how much technology can be used against them and instruct them about how to keep their privacy in a world that doesn’t respect privacy.

StaffThis is Kyla’s first year in the journalism program. She plays on the varsity soccer, basketball and flag football teams. In her free time, she hangs out with her friends, listens to music and takes frequent visits to BJ’s Restaurant. She looks forward to contributing to The Lighthouse.

Justin Mayewski
StaffThis is Justin’s second year in the journalism program. He enjoys playing baseball and working out. He also loves spending time with his friends and family. Justin aspires to have a career in medicine. He hopes journalism will help him become more well-rounded and a better writer.

Jude McElroy
EditorThis is Jude’s third on The Lighthouse staff and second year as an editor. In his free time, Jude likes to play video games. He wrote opinion articles last year and is focusing on review writing this year.

Carolyne Mooney
EditorThis is Carolyne’s fourth year on The Lighthouse staff and her third year as an editor. Carolyne found her passion for sports writing through this program and hopes to pursue a journalism major in college. She is involved in school activities including the Law Enforcement Club and World Language Honor Society. She also has been active on the high school’s girls volleyball and softball teams.

Samantha Munera
StaffThis is Samantha’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. She enjoys playing guitar, listening to music and drawing. She also likes watching movies and hanging out with friends. She looks forward to working with her classmates and improving her writing skills.

He likes watching shows and movies, his favorite movie being “Fast & Furious” and his favorite show being “L.A.’s Finest.” He looks forward to his future in The Lighthouse program.

StaffThis is Bethany's first year in the journalism program. Bethany enjoys dancing on her competition team in Carlstadt, where she is a title winner. She loves going shopping and is very outgoing. Bethany hopes to have a career as an investigator and looks forward to contributing to The Lighthouse.

StaffThis is Kayla’s first year in the journalism program. Kayla enjoys going outside for fresh air, hanging out with her friends and listening to music. She is looking forward to achieving her goals as a member of The Lighthouse staff.

Debbie Ogunbowale
StaffThis is Debbie’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. Debbie is on the volleyball team and enjoys writing and listening to music. She is a member of the high school’s band, where she is a mallet percussionist. In her free time, Debbie likes reading, watching movies and hanging out with her friends. She is a member of the Book Club and Future Business Leaders of America in addition to serving as the public relations director for the Class of 2026. Debbie is excited to be on The Lighthouse staff and plans to remain a part of the journalism program throughout her high school career.

Isabella Oliveira
StaffThis is Isabella’s first year on The Lighthouse staff. She likes to spend time with her family and dog, watch movies, listen to music and watch her soccer team play. She intends to pursue a career as an architect or an interior designer. She intends to use some of the knowledge she gains from journalism in her career.

Yahir Perea

He enjoys working out, spending time with friends, listening to a variety of music, playing video games, playing basketball and meeting new people. Yahir looks forward to working hard and conducting interviews to gain a better understanding of the students at LHS.

She also plays on four sports teams: girls volleyball, girls basketball, softball and flag football. She is very passionate about everything she does, especially taking photos for The Lighthouse.

In her free time, she enjoys reading novels, hanging out with her friends and writing poetry. Adriana is a two-year member of the New Voices Student Leadership Institute and has participated in advocacy work within her community. Adriana hopes to make the most of her senior year by leaving a lasting legacy with The Lighthouse.

Chloe is interested in reporting on topics that impact people’s lives. She currently co-hosts the podcast “The Gold Standard.” Chloe looks forward to learning more about journalism and becoming a better writer.
