The bowling team is heading into the season with big goals.
Senior Bryan Intindola, who is starting his third season on varsity, said the team has a significant chance of making it to states. He said the bowlers will try to improve their performance after completing last season with a 10-9 record.
“We’re real[ly] pumped up about this year, and we’ve been seeing high levels of improvement from all players. We’re confidently saying we can take down most teams,” Intindola said. “Keeping our flow consistent is all we need. As long as we keep at that, we’ll be following the yellow brick road.”
Intindola said he enjoys both the sport and the social aspect that comes with it.
“It’s just a lot of fun… to be able to make tons of memories, make friends and meet people from other places,” Intindola said.
Senior Shane Keeler, who is beginning his third year on varsity, said he is excited about the opportunities this season will bring and looks forward to competing alongside his teammates.
“It is the most unique sport in which we are only practicing and playing three times a week, and it is a much different environment than the other sports,” Keeler said.
He said the team is preparing for its upcoming matches and is determined to perform well.
“Keeping our flow consistent is all we need. As long as we keep at that, we’ll be following the yellow brick road.”
Keeler said Head Coach Offitto, who has been coaching the team for six years, contributes to the team’s positive nature.
“I love the connection and chemistry we have as a team as well as our connection with Coach Offitto,” Keeler said.
Senior Jake Kuenzle, who has been on varsity for four years, said he is excited to excel in his matches.
“My goal is to have one of the highest averages in the league,” Kuenzle said. “With practice and being able to take constructive criticism, I know I’ll have no problem achieving this goal.”
Kuenzle said the bowlers are going to try their best to improve by learning from their mistakes.
“I love the energy we have each game and how positive we are. We always have each other’s backs, and no matter what, we’re the best,” said Kuenzle.
